I have built an electric vacuum pump that is controlled by an Arduino Uno processor, a LCD and a pressure sensor. The Arduino has the following 2 settings:
Continuous - I can dial up the required vacuum and the pump starts up until the required vacuum is reached. If the vacuum leaks the motor start up automatically maintaining the required pressure.
Pulse - The required vacuum level is set similar to continuous with the addition of a timed bleed cycle. The vacuum pulsates drawing the nipple into the receiver then releases some of the presure followed by a further pump to the set pressure.
